Pharmacotherapy, 6 Edition McGraw-Hill Medical

Pharmacotherapy, 6 Edition McGraw-Hill Medical
This essential companion to DiPiro, Talbert, Matzke, Yee, Wells and Posey: Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, 6/e features 5 introductory chapters and 148 case studies, which foster problem analysis and decision-making skills in clinical pharmacy practice. Cases, organized by organ system, correspond directly to Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach and range from simple (a single disease state) to complex (multiple disease states and drug-related problems). Most cases have been substantially altered in this edition and new disorders an an appendix have been added.

Medical Pharmacology at a Glance

Medical Pharmacology at a Glance is one of the most renowned undergraduate texts in the field of medical pharmacology. Following on from the success of the previous three editions, Professor Michael Neal, one of the great teachers of medical pharmacology, has extensively revised and updated the fourth editon to take account of the rapid developments in the field. This incredibly useful book summarises the core principles of the mode of action of drugs and puts this information within the context of body systems and specific clinical problems. The author discusses the mechanisms of action of each drug, indicating the therapeutics of choice for specific conditions.

Medical Pharmacology at a Glance follows the now familiar, easy-to-use double page spread format of the at a Glance series. Each section contains a clear illustration depicting the major drugs and their interactions within a particular body system and a concise account of the topic.

Molecular Biology of Drug Addiction

Molecular Biology of Drug Addiction
Humana Press | 1588290603 | Edition - 2002-09-01 | PDF | 360 pages | 2.7 MB | Rapidshare & Megaupload&Aliceinwire

A comprehensive multidisciplinary review of the most relevant molecular, genetic, and behavioral approaches used to investigate the neurobiological basis of drug addiction. The authors explore the latest findings on opioid, psychostimulant, cannabinoid, alcohol, and nicotine addiction, provide fresh insights into the genetic basis of drug addiction and the new therapeutic perspectives these have opened. They describe the technology available to generate conditional knockout mice and show how these mice can reveal the molecular basis of opioid, psychostimulant, and cannabinoid addiction. They also review the different behavioral models available to evaluate the rewarding effects of drugs and analyze the genes involved in alcohol dependence.

Molecular Neuropharmacology: Strategies and Methods

Arne Schousboe , Hans Bräuner-Osborne, "Molecular Neuropharmacology: Strategies and Methods"
Humana Press; 1 edition | ISBN: 158829143X | 280 pages | PDF | 3 Mb

A powerful collection of readily reproducible cutting-edge techniques for characterizing the ligand or substrate binding of neurotransmitter receptors and transporters. The procedures cover interdisciplinary interactions for monoamine transporters, amino acid transporters, ionotropic receptors, metabotropic glutamate receptors, GABA receptors, and other G protein-coupled receptors. By illuminating how neurons in the central nervous communicate with other, these techniques can lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for neurological diseases.

Somatostatin Analogs in Diagnostics and Therapy

Somatostatin Analogs in Diagnostics and Therapy
Publisher: Landes Bioscience | Language: English | ISBN: 1587062232 | 114 pages | Data: 2007 | PDF | 3 Mb
Somatostatin is a peptide isolated originally from the hypothalamus and considered as an inhibitor of growth hormone secretion. However, further studies have shown that the peptide was ubiquitously distributed and exerts a large spectrum of physiological effects, mostly of an inhibitory nature. The very short half-life of the native peptide limits its therapeutic application. To overcome this limitation the long-lasting modified molecules (analogs) of somatostatin were synthesized. The present book provides comprehensive data on the application of somatostatin analogs in diagnostics and treatment of diseases, mostly endocrine disorders and cancers.

Recent changes in the interpretation and enforcement of 21 CFR Part 11 have shifted the focus of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations to concentrate on the acceptance of electronic signatures, the archiving of data, the security of electronic documents, and the automation of laboratory procedures. This all-encompassing Fourth Edition addresses every critical aspect of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) regulations and demonstrates effective strategies for implementation in a variety of laboratory settings. This updated and expanded classic text contains new information about applying 21 CFR Part 11 to the laboratory environment, GLP documentation systems, laboratory risk analysis, system validation and inspection, process analytical technologies, and cost control for the prevention of pitfalls and the assurance of compliance in numerous research environments.
